Scientists at the University of Wales have developed an innovative method to turn plastic into fuel for future cars. By adding a light-absorbing material to the plastic and placing it in an alkaline solution, hydrogen is produced when the mix is exposed to sunlight.
This method offers a more affordable alternative to traditional plastic recycling, as it eliminates the need for expensive cleaning and sorting processes. One of its major advantages is that it can process various types of waste, including those with food or grease residues, which even enhance the results.
As an added bonus, the leftovers from the process are clean and can be recycled into new plastic.
While it will take a few more years for this scientific breakthrough to be widely implemented, it all sounds very promising, and we will follow the process with great interest.
